Another Great Day!

It was another beautiful day in Colorado. Two more Brook Trout caught – one by me and one by Curtis. Below is the picture of the Brookie that Curtis caught. Also – another great thing today – we got into our cabin! Our first night here was spent in a much smaller cabin (a may we add with a horrible bed!)….because our cabin was not available until today. It’s their newest cabin renovation with a screened in porch and a hot tub! It’s truly amazing! Much more room than in the cabin we had last year. We are really happy with it. Below are pictures looking out over our deck onto the Taylor River. We also spent some time driving around to a few new places today. We went to a little town called Tin Cup. It’s a historic town built in the 1800’s. It’s a cool little place with these little tiny cabins complete with out-houses. The little cabins kind of reminded us of something you see at the beach in Washington. Really cute. Then we took this rocky horrible dirt road up to Mirror Lake – lake was beautiful. It rained while we were up there – but we sat up there and had some lunch and watched the fish topping the water. We didn’t fish – only because we didn’t want to take the time. It was time to head back to Almont to get into our new cabin. Curtis decided to take us on a “different” route than we had come in on. Well – that was an interesting trip. Next thing I know we are rambling up this dirt road filled with pot holes, rocks and a bazillion foot drop on MY SIDE OF THE TRUCK! We ended up over 12-thousand feet high! Where trees won’t even grow! I’m telling you – there is something wrong with that! Three hours later we FINALLY made it into Almont. Me finally over my car sickness, the truck a devastating color of brown – and the Tibbies all intact. It’s a miracle. It’s a miracle that Curtis is still alive after that! No seriously – aside from the road, and the bazillion foot drop off on MY SIDE OF THE TRUCK, it was a beautiful trip that I don’t think I will ever have to experience again. Been there, done that, don’t even want the t-shirt. We’ve really had beautiful weather. Some rain, some snow, some ice, and lots of sun. It’s amazing how quickly the temps will drop around here. It’s 60 one minute and 40 the next. Really strange. And it snows here at 45 degrees. That’s way weird. Once we got into our cabin, we got everything unpacked, FINALLY! Seems like we’ve been living out of the truck for a month. Once we got unpacked, Curtis went down to do some fishing – below is a little movie of him fishing. Mom – I didn’t forget you. Outside our cabin this morning was the most beautiful little bird. We forgot our bird book (again!) so let us know what he is. The female was on another tree limb close to him. Well – off to the hot tub for us! Tomorrow we have a massive front coming in – but that’s fine. We will fish in snow, rain, sleet – kind of like postal people – only different! We carry fishing rods instead of guns!
